Alzheimer’s support groups continue
 
The local Alzheimer’s Association has three caregiver support groups in the area held at different locations on the second Monday of each month.
Locations are Metro North Church (5:30-6:30 p.m.) at 109 Central Avenue in Goose Creek; Moncks Corner Medical Center (11 a.m – noon) on N. Live Oak Drive, and the Otranto Road library (1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.) in North Charleston.

Art class offered at Depot
 
A Geechee Girl Art Class for Adults, Painting with Watercolors, will be conducted by instructor Theresa Camlin on Tuesday, July 23 at the Moncks Corner Depot from 7 to 9 p.m.  
A total of $35 covers the class and supplies.
Register by July 17 at the Depot on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., or at Moncks Corner Town Hall, Monday- Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Ladies Auxiliary steak night first and third Saturday
 
The Ladies Auxiliary VFW holds steak night the first and third Saturday of every month. The cost is $10.
The Auxiliary’s regular monthly meeting is the second Monday of every month at 7 p.m.; trivia nights are held on the first and fourth Mondays of the month.
 
Chamber mixer Aug. 1
 
The next Berkeley Chamber of Commerce Business Mixer is set for 5:30 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1. The mixer will be held at Café Rotonda featuring The Magnolia Room at 2839 South Live Oak Drive in Moncks Corner. There is no cost for Chamber members; non-members cost is $10.

Shrine Club announces Friday dinners
 
 
 
The public is invited every Friday night to the Berkeley Shrine Club: a spaghetti dinner is set for every first Friday; a potluck dinner is every second Friday; a fish fry is every third Friday; and a steak dinner is every fourth Friday. The cost of each dinner varies.

Festival vendors sought
 
Goose Creek is seeking arts/craft vendors, food vendors and sponsors for its “2013 Fall Festival” on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Marguerite H. Brown Municipal Center.

The Fleet Reserve Association Lowcountry Branch 269 holds its monthly General Assembly meeting on the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at 99 Wisteria Road in Goose Creek.

Mental illness support group meets weekly
 
Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) Berkeley is a weekly support group for those who suffer from a mental illness and for those whose friend or loved one does. 
The support group meets every Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church (510 St. James Avenue) in the All Ministers Center (behind the church) in Room 5 from 7-8 p.m. 
Everyone is welcome to visit and support those with mental illnesses such as depression and bipolar disorder.

NAACP meets monthly
 
The Moncks Corner NAACP monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m. for the Executive Committee, and 7:30 p.m. for the General Meeting, on the third Monday of each month. 
 
Campbell to address GOP Women
 
Sen. Paul Campbell, who represents South Carolina District 41, will be the speaker at the August meeting of the Berkeley County Republican Women on Monday, Aug. 5.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Berkeley Electric Cooperative on 2 Springhall Drive in Goose Creek.
 
Bonneau VBS announced
 
Bonneau Pentecostal Holiness Church has announced that its Vacation Bible School – God's Backyard Bible Camp – will take place July 22-26 from 7 to 9 p.m. nightly.
 
Free computer classes continue at Tech
The Public Computer Center at Trident Technical College’s Berkeley Campus is offering the following computer courses to the public, free of charge:
• Tuesday, July 23, Microsoft Word Mail Merge Wizard, 3 p.m.
• Thursday, July 25, Working with Hyperlinks, 3 p.m.
• Tuesday, July 30, Questions and Answers, 3 p.m.
All course participants will need to bring a USB flash drive to save their work.

Gospel concert July 27
 
A “Gaither Style” Sheppard’s Promotions Concert featuring a host of Gospel groups will take place at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 5:30) on July 27 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church (209 Nettles Street in Moncks Corner).
Bands and performers will include the Hearts Song Quartet, Lorraine Howard, Carla and Redemption, Mark Marsh, Karen Reese, New Direction, Carla Stone, Ronnie Allen, The Believers Quartet, Julie Mahoney and The Singing Sheppards.
