Crave hosts event to benefit Locke family

  • Thursday, July 11, 2013

Members of Crave Kitchen and Cocktails, are coordinating a fundraising event for Mr. and Mrs. Kevin and Korri Locke of Mount Pleasant Monday July 15 from 10 p.m. - 1 a.m.

Kevin Locke is a member of the food and beverage industry and his wife is preparing to undergo critical surgery.

Enjoy live cover bands, a DJ, raffles and auctions.

A short time ago, Korri Locke discovered that she had a significantly large mass that was pressing in on her major arteries and veins(specifically the Superior Vena Cava). The effects of this pressure have been wide spread, and rapidly increasing in severity. As a result, Korri was suffering from massive edema and fluid-buildup throughout her body, with an increased threat to her heart and cardiovascular system. Surgery was the only viable option. Kevin Locke has been a highly recognized and sociable face in the food and beverage industry for well over 15 years, and has ensconced himself into the hearts of many a restaurant and fellow food and beverage worker. As a result, Crave Kitchen and Cocktails has organized this event that will hopefully benefit the Locke family, and ease as much of the financial burden on them as is possible.

The evening’s bartenders(myself being one) will be working “off-the-clock”, and any tips allocated will be donated to the family. Crave is offering 10 percent of any food sales prior to 10 p.m. and then increasing that to 20 percent after 10 p.m. Twenty percent of any bar sales will be donated.

Crave will have a buffet-style offering of some of Executive Chef Landen Ganstrom’s current Crave favorites, in addition to, some dishes made specifically for the event. Two live musical acts are donating their time and talents in the form of Corinne Billings, offering her solo acoustic act for Happy Hour, at which point, she will return with her band The Resolution at 10 p.m. Kevin Locke himself will be performing an acoustic set to finish out the live portion of the musical entertainment at 11:15 p.m. From 12 - 1 a.m. they will have our DJ spinning Top 40 hits until the festivities are finished.

There will be a raffle and a silent auction. Monetary donations, set at a suggested $20 a head, will be accepted at any time during the week prior to the event.
