58 attend Christian ladies meeting
On Saturday, June 22 Bethel Baptist Church hosted the annual community ladies meeting, and 58 ladies attended, representing nine churches.
Churches represented are Hood's Chapel United Methodist, Oak Grove PH , Hickory Grove PH , Macedonia Christian Church, Life Park, Providence Baptist, Harristown Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church and a Methodist church in Virginia.
The theme was Women of God, Growing in Grace (2 Peter 3:18).
The community’s recent response to a Bookmobile for rural Berkeley County was overwhelming.
The Bookmobile’s return is anticipated for mid August. Bookmobile service ended in the late 1980s and it is a big project for the library starting up this service again. It will not just have books but also computers with Internet access.
The library’s goal is to support families and children who are wanting to learn and for those who would like to get their GED. They will have texts for younger children on the Internet and also some take-home material. They will be having movies and music.
The library is also looking for a new name for the Bookmobile; librarians are planning a naming contest from July 15 to August 15. There will be a prize for the winner who is chosen with the best name.
If there is a church, community building or clubhouse where the library can schedule a visit that would be great. When you know what location can be used please call Donna Osborn, director of the library, at 719-4243. She has been working hard on this project and needs the help of all the communities.
Happy Birthday from Providence Baptist Church to Reginald Dunston (June 26); Don Owens (July 3); and Joy Sandifer (July 11).
Happy Birthday from Hood's Chapel UM Church to Jerry Hush (June 30).
Oak Grove PH church had a fabulous Vacation Bible School Week. They had an average of 165 adults and children each night. The children and adults learned God's expectations of us to serve him and others.
Oak Grove will be honoring their Veterans during the morning worship service on July 7 starting at 10 a.m.
Hickory Grove PH Church will be having VBS from July 8 to 13.
Victory Baptist Church will be having their VBS World Tour by Jeff Slaughter from July 14 to July 19 nightly from 6 to 8 p.m.
