At 4:20 a.m. Sunday, 30-year-old Michael Governor of St. Stephen was traveling on Highway 52 about two miles north of St. Stephen when his sedan ran off the roadway, Coroner Bill Salisbury reported.
Mr. Governor ran off the right side of the road and hit a ditch causing his vehicle to overturn, ejecting him.  He was not wearing a seatbelt.  He was pronounced dead on the scene by Salisbury.
A passenger in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with non-life threating injuries.
The accident was investigated by the Berkeley County Coroner and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.  The death has been ruled accidental with the cause as blunt force body trauma.
