Post 7723 remembers fallen heroes

St. Stephen Post 7723, conducted its annual Memorial Day Service on the morning of May 25 at the Post.
Thomas D. Antwine, retired Major, U S Army, and current ROTC Instructor at CE Murray High School in Greeleyville, served as the master of ceremony.
The speaker for the occasion was U.S. Army Sgt. Michelle Whitaker, of the Army Hospital Unit of Charleston.
At the conclusion of her message, remarks were made by Rep. Joseph H. Jefferson Jr., school board member Wilhelmina Moore, county councilman Caldwell Pinckney, and St. Stephen Police Chief John Waters.
The program began with an Invocation by John Judge, Post Chaplin, and was followed by the Presentation of Colors by the State Honor Guard Unit.
A beautiful rendition of the National Anthem was delivered by Tamera Bennett, which was followed with the Raising of the Flag by State Honor Guards.
The Laying of the Wreath was done by Post Commander Kennedy with the assistance of Rep. Jefferson. The State Honor Guard and Cindy Brewer played “Taps,” and closing remarks were delivered by Post Commander Kennedy.  The closing prayer and blessing of the repast were done by Post Chaplin John Judge.
A beautiful day of remembrance and tribute was accomplished for those that gave their lives in service to and for this country and its allies. May we always remember and celebrate the freedoms gained through their service.

Children’s Day

The Anderson Baptist Church celebrated its children on June 9.
As the church prepared to hear from its youth performers, the program paused to receive into the church, through a special dedicatory service, baby Louise A. Manigault, who was presented by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, godparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, and ogles of church well wishers.
The Dedicatory Service for baby Manigault was accomplished by Pastor Oscar Cash Jr.
Following the dedication, the program continued with performances by children and youth of the church who performed wonderful songs, poems, and special readings.
Sister Keicha Omega Barnes, Senior Guidance Counselor; A. C. Flora High School in Columbia, was presented to the congregation by Sister Hester Manigault. Her delivery topic was Children of God: You (We) are the Light and Salt of the Earth, and was well received.
