In 2012 Andrew Lockliear helped Northwood Academy make it to the SCISA Class AAA State Championship game.
This year he was one of four seniors on a young Berkeley High School baseball team, and Lockliear helped bring home the school's first region championship in 50 years.
The Stags lefty, bound for Florence Darlington Tech in the fall, capped off his scholastic baseball career by pitching in the North-South All-Star Game. He made quite the impression in the process, striking out four and allowing just one hit over two innings of work.
“It was definitely a great experience and I made some great relationships,” Lockliear said of his All-Star Game experience.
At the plate Lockliear went 1-3, with a pair of walks.
Lockliear said that he enjoyed playing on Coastal Carolina's all-turf baseball field, calling it different, but cool.
In two months Lockliear heads to Florence and Darlington Tech to continue the next stage of his baseball career. He is looking forward to showing the coaches there what he can do.
“I know a good opportunity is waiting on me to show what I'm capable of with great coaches and a great organization,” he said. “I know what I have to do to succeed, and I'm going to do it to the best of my ability in the classroom and on the baseball field.”
