The South Carolina Hurricanes travel softball team ran the table with a perfect 5-0 mark to win the WFC Girls of Summer tournament championship at Gahagan Park in Summerville on June 9.
The Hurricanes were led in the circle by Berkeley hurlers Brooklyn Stone and Jessica Stanley, and Timberland’s Haley Welch, all rising freshmen, allowing just four runs on 15 hits over the five games.
At the plate six hitters posted averages over .400 for the tournament, including Sara Manore’s .667 clip. Welch followed with a .538 average, Stanley hit an even .500, Abby Kennedy .471, Kendall Grubb .438 and Abby Lee .417.
The Hurricanes have posted a 16-2 mark through their first three tournaments, allowing 24 runs on 55 hits while scoring 105 runs on 141 hits.
