As many as 300 people filled Trident Tech’s Complex for Economic Development last week to learn about a variety of the free tools Google offers for small business owners, educators and nonprofit employees.
The second Googlefest at TTC’s North Charleston campus took place June 19.
A host of community leaders were speakers at the event, including Berkeley County Supervisor Dan Davis, speakers from Google, and other community and business leaders.
“Googlefest is helping to create a smarter, tech-savvy workforce for Charleston, Berkeley County and all of South Carolina,” Davis said. “It’s important to make sure each and every one of our citizens has the tools to master the Internet. This conference is a great way to learn those skills.”
Small business owners have to spend every dollar carefully and for maximum effect. Increased knowledge of Google AdWords and Google Apps can help businesses attract and retain customers.
Nonprofits can also benefit from learning how to easily set up a free website on Google Sites and find supporters and advocates on Google+.
“Google is committed to our data center communities and this is our biggest event of the year in Berkeley County,” said Eric Wages, Site Operations Manager for Google’s Berkeley County data center. “We enjoy having the opportunity to help small businesses, educators and nonprofit leaders learn digital tools that will help them be more successful.”
Googlefest continues Google’s commitment to support the local community. Google’s data center in Berkeley County is a $1.2 billion investment in South Carolina’s Lowcountry.
