Post 166 gets back in win column

Goose Creek Post 166 snapped a three-game losing streak with a 6-2 victory over Hilton Head on Tuesday, June 11.
Post 166 pitchers Zack Wimmer, Chris Zurcher and Tyler Rio combined to fan 16 Hilton Head batters.
The win improved Post 166 to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in league play heading into Friday’s home game against Cary, N.C. at GCHS.
Cody Smith had three hits and drove in a run, while Sean Freeland and Austin Timm chipped in two hits and an RBI apiece.
Rio threw four innings of relief to pick up the victory on the mound. He inherited runners on the corners with nobody out in the bottom of the sixth with Post 166 trailing 1-0 and was able to work through it.
Post 166 took the lead for good with three runs in the top of the seventh. Rio made it 2-1 with a RBI double and Timm forced in a run when he was plunked with the bases loaded.
Hilton Head cut the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh but Post 166 added three insurance runs in the top of the ninth.
It gave Post 166 a 2-1 series lead against Hilton Head this season and avenged an 11-3 loss in the last meeting.
