St. Stephen Community Lunch set for Thursday
The St. Stephen Community History Room and Café will be open on Thursday, June 13 from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The menu will consist of grilled barbeque chicken, baked beans, slaw, roll and dessert.
The cost of lunch is $7. Dine in or take out plates are available.
The community café is located on Bay Street, inside of the St. Stephen History Room, and managed by local volunteers. Support from the public is greatly appreciated.
If more information is needed or you would like to place an order in advance, call 670-6213.
The Winyah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is holding its annual Flag Retirement Ceremony at Morgan Park in Georgetown on Friday, June 14 at 10 a.m. The public is encouraged to attend. Dr. James Forrester is the guest speaker.
It is tradition for all retired flags to be appropriately burned under the guidance of the fire department and generous support of the Boy Scouts. The heartwarming ceremony of burying last year's flag ashes is conducted by South Carolina Past State Regent Marilyn Altman with an amazing rendition of the U S. Military Taps on the trumpet by Jonathan Britt.
The event lasts about an hour and is casual. Bring a folding chair and water for themselves. While the ceremony is simple and brief, it is very touching and rewarding.
Happy Birthday to Ashley Ashby, Chloe Carr, Brayden Lail, Wyatt Lail, Parker Minus, Gary Rentzel, Brian Thames, Jennifer Welch and Evie Winterbottom.
