Alzheimer’s support groups continue
The local Alzheimer’s Association has three caregiver support groups in the area held at different locations on the second Monday of each month.
Locations are Metro North Church (5:30-6:30 p.m.) at 109 Central Avenue in Goose Creek; Moncks Corner Medical Center (11 a.m – noon) on N. Live Oak Drive, and the Otranto Road library (1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.) in North Charleston.

Ladies Auxiliary steak night first and third Saturday
The Ladies Auxiliary VFW holds steak night the first and third Saturday of every month. The cost is $10.
The Auxiliary’s regular monthly meeting is the second Monday of every month at 7 p.m.; trivia nights are held on the first and fourth Mondays of the month.
NAACP changes meeting time
The Moncks Corner NAACP has announced a time change for its monthly meeting.
Beginning June 17, 2013, the monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m. instead of 6:30 for the Executive Committee, and 7:30 p.m. for the General Meeting.
The NAACP will continue to meet on the third Monday of each month.
Shrine Club announces Friday dinners
The public is invited every Friday night to the Berkeley Shrine Club: a spaghetti dinner is set for every first Friday; a potluck dinner is every second Friday; a fish fry is every third Friday; and a steak dinner is every fourth Friday. The cost of each dinner varies.

Fleet Reserve meets monthly
The Fleet Reserve Association Lowcountry Branch 269 holds its monthly General Assembly meeting on the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at 99 Wisteria Road in Goose Creek.

GOP Breakfast June 1
The Berkeley County Republican Party Breakfast will meet on Saturday, June 1, at American Legion Post 166 (116 Howe Hall Road in Goose Creek).
The guest speaker will be Attorney General Alan Wilson. Breakfast ($6) will be served at 9 a.m. with the program beginning at 9:30. No membership is required and the public is invited to attend.

OA meets Mondays

Spring Hill supper June 1
The Spring Hill United Methodist Church is sponsoring a spaghetti supper (spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, tea and dessert) for $7 on Saturday, June 1 from 5 until 7 p.m. in the church’s social hall. The church is located at the intersection of Old Guillard and Spring Hill Church roads in the Sandridge Community.
Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased from Debbie at 688-5519 or Teresa at 688-4169, or ask any church member and they will be glad to get tickets for you. All proceeds will go the building fund.
Free Computer Classes
The Public Computer Center at Trident Technical College’s Berkeley Campus is offering the following computer courses to the public, free of charge.
• Tuesday, May 28: Microsoft Access, 3 p.m.
• Thursday, May 30: Questions and Answers, 3 p.m.
All course participants will need to bring a USB flash drive to save their work.

BCSO summer camp announced
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office will host its annual BCSO Summer Deputy Camp for students 8 to 12 years old this summer.
Camp dates are July 15 through July 19. Participation is limited to the first 50 students who return a completed parental consent and registration form along with a check or money order for $75 made payable to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Crime Prevention Unit.

Parental transportation is required to the Berkeley County Emergency Services Training Center (474 Reid Hill Road, just behind the Walmart in Moncks Corner) for student drop-off and pick-up. Check-in time is 8:30 a.m. each morning of the camp and pick-up time is at 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided at the camp.
