The topic will be “Jams, Jellies and Spreads.” Participants will take home a copy of the Ball Blue Book Guide to Preserving, handouts and items prepared during the class. 
Clemson Extension Service is your local resource for research based food preservation information. Some changes have been made to home canning methods over the years to improve the safety of home canned items.

More classes will be offered throughout the year to include freezing and drying foods, pressure canning (vegetables), water bath canning (fruits and tomatoes) and pickling. Canner testing is also available.

Canning season has arrived, and Clemson Extension Service is offering food preservation classes again in 2013.
