Crime in the County

The following incidents were obtained from Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office reports:
•†A deputy responded to an establishment in Cross on a recent night after receiving complaints of a suspect pointing a handgun at patrons. The deputy found the suspect, who had a holster containing a handgun in plain view. A dispatcher confirmed the suspect was a convicted felon and unable to possess a firearm.
The suspect was arrested without incident for unlawful possession of a firearm. He was taken to the detention center.
• A woman residing on Windwood Lane near Moncks Corner recently reported that an unknown subject cut open a lock on her garage and stole a dirt bike, two .22 rifles and a large amount of meat from the freezer.
The estimated total value of the missing items is $900.
•†Six storage units and one pickup truck were broken into during a recent burglary at a storage facility off South Live Oak Drive. Items missing include a 12-gauge shotgun, a rifle, a chainsaw and five nail guns.
The total estimated value of the missing items is $2,400.
• A South Live Oak Drive resident found the side window of a building shattered and the back door open. The victim said the only item missing from the apparent burglary was his red Honda ATV, valued at $1,500.
The deputy observed damage indicating an apparent attempt to pry open the back door but the window was likely broken in order to gain access. The victim said several buildings in the area have been burglarized in the past few weeks.
