Salters man dies of electrocution

A man was found dead Sunday morning at an electrical facility in Cainhoy, according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.
At 10:45 a.m. Berkeley Electric Co-op employees responded to a power outage in the Cainhoy area.
While checking a sub-station they found the body of Zachary Jones, 29, of Salters. Jones was lying in a pit around a transformer. He was pronounced dead on the scene by Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.
The fence had been cut to gain entry in the sub-station. The death has been ruled accidental by the coroner.
The cause of death is electrocution and the death is being investigated by the coroner’s office and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
