YMCA says thanks to community

  • Tuesday, April 23, 2013

Dear Summerville Community,
The Summerville Family YMCA would like to say thank you to all those involved in making the 2013 YMCA Flowertown Festival a huge success.  A special thank you is extended to the Town of Summerville, including our fine Police Officers, EMS, Fire Department and first responders.  With their help and the help of countless volunteers, the 41st Annual YMCA Flowertown Festival was a huge success and highlighted the incredible southern charm and beauty of Summerville.
The festival is the YMCA’s largest fundraiser and the net proceeds enable us to financially assist those who need us most. In 2012, we offered over $200,000 in financial assistance, which helped 2,000 men women and children enjoy the benefits of the YMCA. We taught over 2,000 kids swimming lessons and served over 3,000 kids in soccer, basketball, baseball and gymnastics. Each day during the summer, we serve over 300 kids in our summer camping programs which teach children the benefits of healthy living and character development.
The YMCA’s goal is to instill a safe, family orientated environment, where the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility are encouraged.  The YMCA has become a trusted place in this community and we open our arms to everyone to enjoy our services.  Our promise remains faithful…to serve and enrich the lives we touch.
Again, we want to thank all those who helped put on a fabulous weekend and for supporting the YMCA mission.
