Frank Johnson/Independent -- Children are led away from the school bus involved in last week's accident to another bus sent to pick them up, at the I-26 overpass on College Park Road. --

A Charleston County School bus transporting special needs children was involved in an accident on the I-26 West exit ramp for College Park Road at about 2:30 p.m. April 9.
The bus driver was attempting to make a left turn onto College Park Road when a SUV disregarded a traffic light and struck the bus, which then struck two other vehicles, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Senior Trooper Bridge Wyant.
No serious injuries were reported, although four of the 12 students were transported to Trident Hospital, according to Wyant. The students were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, according to Charleston County School District Public Information Officer Jason Sakaran.
A Ridgeville woman was driving a 2005 Nissan SUV when she disregarded a traffic light and struck the bus. She has been charged with disregarding a traffic signal, Wyant said.
The bus driver and a passenger from a 2013 Dodge Avenger that was also struck were transported to the hospital, according to Wyant.
The bus was in the process of taking children to their respective homes when the collision occurred, according to Sakaran.
The students were transferred to another bus at the scene of the accident.
