A local non-profit organization, Jenkins Orphanage, along with Palmetto Primary Care Physicians and Carolina Studios, have announced the First Annual Roots of Jazz Music Festival to benefit the orphanage.
The festival will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 3923 Azalea Drive in North Charleston.
The Jenkins Orphanage was founded in 1891 by a former slave, the Rev. Daniel Jenkins, who made it his life’s mission to help and provide for children in need.
The festival will feature the sounds of local jazz artists.
General admission tickets can be purchased in advance for $8 at Cats Music in Summerville, Monster Music in West Ashley (cash only), or at the gate for $10. For more information, call (843) 735-5344 or visit www.facebook.com/therootsofjazzmusicfestival.
