The 2013 South Carolina Humanities Festival is coming to Summerville April 18-21.
Sponsored by the South Carolina Humanities Council and hosted by the Friends of the Summerville Library, the SCHC Annual Humanities Festival will include a variety of events over three days, including lectures, historic tours, concerts, and more.
Now in its 19th year, the festival has been held in fifteen different South Carolina cities. Each festival celebrates the local history and culture of the host community, engaging the citizens in lectures, discussions, films, and exhibits and facilitating partnerships between cultural organizations and community groups.
This year’s festival is being hosted and coordinated by the Summerville Friends of the Library and will feature an interesting and exciting array of events throughout the weekend in the Summerville area.
“There should be something to delight everyone – and we certainly hope everyone will show up,” Pamela Ward said. “There will be symposiums, lectures, tours – we even have a rare opportunity for some to tour the International Primate Protection League facility here in Summerville.”
Some events have limited space and seating and it is suggested that people get tickets and make reservations early. For more information on events, times, dates, and ticket availability and prices go to www.friendsofthesummervillelibrary.weebly.com or call 224-4133.
