The Stratford baseball team split a pair of Region 7-AAAA baseball games last week, coasting past Cane Bay 9-2 on Wednesday before losing 6-3 on Friday against Wando.
That left the Knights with a 1-1 record in region play heading into Tuesday’s game at West Ashley.
Against Cane Bay, Taylor Morrison had two hits, while Michael Punteney and Mikey White knocked in two runs apiece.
Against Wando, Punteney was 3 for 3 and Jamison Mobbs added a pair of hits for the Knights.
• In softball, Stratford also split with Cane Bay and Wando. The Lady Knights mercy ruled Cane Bay and dropped a close one with the Lady Warriors, falling 4-3 in Mount Pleasant.
Stratford led 3-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth before Wando took the lead with three runs.
The loss dropped the Lady Knights’ record to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in region.
