When most people think of Goodwill, they think of shopping in the Goodwill Thrift Stores looking for treasures. They may not realize how many ways Goodwill helps our community.
Well, Goodwill deserves another feather in its cap for helping the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of the Carolina Lowcountry American Red Cross.
Our mission is to help people 55 years of age and older find meaningful volunteer opportunities in their community. RSVP had been working out of a non-profit service center for many years, but sadly that became unavailable to us in December and we needed a place from which to work. Goodwill heard about our plight and offered us an office they were moving out of that is located in their Moncks Corner thrift store.
We want to thank Goodwill Industries for their generosity and community spirit in allowing us to continue our mission to work hard in helping Berkeley County with their volunteer needs. Senior citizens have a wealth of knowledge, experience and commitment, which they are willing to share. Our job is to help them share it.
Do drop by 136 Rembert C. Dennis Blvd. and say hello to our Berkeley County Coordinator, Patricia Horry. Maybe even take a walk around the thrift store. You may find a treasure you can’t live without!
