Airman First Class DeAndre Reid of the 436th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Dover Air Force Base was recently selected as Airman of the Year over 200 of his peers.
The achievement is the latest of many for Reid, who in 22 months of service has shown exceptional skill and knowledge in his career field as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician. His strong will to improve both himself and those around him through volunteer work and leadership opportunities has resulted in him receiving three major squadron awards.
In July of 2012 he was awarded Airman of the Month, and soon after was awarded Airman of the Quarter.
Reid currently serves as a member of the Dover AFB Honor Guard. He represents the Air Force by providing Military Honors at funerals for fallen military members.
Reid is a 2010 graduate of Berkeley High School. He is the son of Lennie and Jimilla Reid of Fort Stewart, Ga., and the grandson of Edward and Gladys Johnson, and George and Lillie Mae Reid, all of Moncks Corner.
