Mark R. Gist

Mark R. Gist of Mt. Vernon, IN died Wednesday night, Feb. 27, 2013 at his home. He was 49. He was born Sept. 13, 1963 in Charleston, the son of William and Elizabeth (Swint) Gist. He was married to Katrina Carnahan.
Mr. Gist was a lead guitarist. He played in many local bands in Charleston, Summerville and Moncks Corner, including the Shane Clark Band, Opie’s Ugly Sister and 26 East.
He is survived by his wife, Katrina; two daughters, Jessica Kolb and her husband, Nick Phillips of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Amanda Kolb of Charleston; and two grandchildren, Joseph Lee and Hunter Gage Phillips.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Victory Christian Church, 521 Goose Creek Blvd. in Goose Creek. The Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, IN is in charge of arrangements.
