Services for Dorothy Tyler Powers were held Feb. 28 at Second Baptist Church, with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Mrs. Powers, of Dillon, died on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at Health South in Florence. She was 86.
Born in Raines, SC, on Oct. 19, 1926, she was the daughter of the late James Tyler and Rosa Ella Hodges Tyler. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, and was retired as the cafeteria manager at East Elementary School.
Survivors include her children, Frances P. Campbell of Dillon, Robert E. Powers of Georgetown, and Bonnie P. (Francis) Mills of Moncks Corner; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Powers was preceded in death by her husband, James Carson Powers, and her daughter, Shirley Rose Powers.
