Forgotten Patriots

  • Wednesday, March 6, 2013

In honor of Black History Month, General Marion's Brigade Chapter of the NSDAR donated “Forgotten Patriots” to the Berkeley County Library. The book was published by the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, and contains the names of known African American and American Indian Patriots who served in the Revolutionary War. Over 160 Patriots are listed in the chapter on South Carolina. A supplemental volume was also donated containing additional names and information discovered since the original publishing. Forgotten Patriots is in the South Carolina Room at the Moncks Corner Branch of the Berkeley County Library. Above, Moncks Corner Head Librarian Florence Lewis-Coker receives Forgotten Patriots from Cathi Lee Regent of General Marion's Brigade. The cd disk contains the 874-page book and a 79-page supplemental volume.
