Show me the money

  • Sunday, February 24, 2013

A local man keeps a large stash of money in his closet and counts it frequently to ensure it is all there. But one day, after counting the money, he found $4,000 missing. The first suspect that came to his mind, according to a police report, was his child’s baby sitter.

The 25 year old baby sitter comes to their home once a week, the report said and she had been there in between counting money.

The man called police and while an officer was there taking the report, the wife called the baby sitter. The officer then asked to speak to the baby sitter. He asked her if she would come to the station to discuss the issue, the report said. She did not want to give out any information over the phone and the connection was bad and the call was dropped. The baby sitter did call the house back, though and spoke with the wife. She asked if they could meet and talk. But the wife continued to inquire about the missing cash. The wife told the baby sitter that if they got the money back they would not pursue charges. The baby sitter then admitted to taking the money and said, “if I give you back the money will you not tell my mom?” She also said she had the money in her possession to return.

The wife told the baby sitter that they would need the money back by 1 p.m. or they would pursue charges.

The husband later contacted the responding officer and said they had worked out a payment plan with the girl’s parents and they would not be pursuing charges at this time.
