Leukemia Ball urges businesses to help beat cancer

  • Wednesday, February 20, 2013

The South Carolina – Coastal Area chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is holding the eighth annual Leukemia Ball on Feb. 23 at the Omar Shrine Ballroom. This LLS annual fundraising event is to raise money for cancer research and patient services.

LLS holds the ball each year and invites the public to come and enjoy a fun filled evening that includes a live and silent auction as well as hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. There will be dancing to the sounds of the 7 Once Band and it is black-tie optional. Sponsorships and tables are still available.

The funds raised through corporate and individual contributions help to find cures and better therapies for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin disease and myeloma and to provide information, education and support for patients and their families.

“Our goal is raise money for research and to also give hope to patients and their families and let them know they are not alone in their battle against cancer,” said Darlene Benton, the local branch director.
