Upper Berkeley Health Walk set for April
The First Annual Upper Berkeley Health Walk will be held on April 20.
The non-profit event, organized by the Tri-City Outreach Support Group and the Town of St. Stephen, is being conducted to encourage area communities to promote healthier lifestyles.
All ages are welcome to participate. Following the walk, free health screening will be provided. Sponsors of the event are being solicited, and will be recognized with a silk-screened logo displayed on the T-shirts worn by walkers, and on information lists that will be available in packets distributed to participants.
Registration for the walk is $10, which includes a shirt.  On-site registration and registration forms may be dropped off at the American Legion Hut, Hwy. 45, St. Stephen on Saturday April 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The names of sponsors will also be submitted to the Berkeley Independent for inclusion in a special write-up regarding the walk following its completion.  Businesses, groups or individuals interested in serving as sponsors may do so by making a contribution of $500 by Feb. 22.

Garden Show
The Cypress Gardens Breath of Spring Flower Show, will take place March 1-3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Confirmation Retreat
A Confirmation retreat will be held at Immaculate Conception in Goose Creek from 8:45 a.m. – 6 p.m. It is a requirement for confirmandi to attend this conference.  The registration fee is waived for participants.

Congratulations to the Rev. Melvin Avilla, CRM, administrator of Our Lady of Peace, Bonneau, and St. Philip Benizi, Moncks Corner, who also serves as Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus Council 11471.  He is scheduled to receive the honor of the Fourth Degree (Patriotic Degree) on Feb. 23 in Columbia.
The Lake Knight Council’s Grand Knight, Charles Spigelmire, III, is encouraging all Fourth Degree members to accompany Father Melvin on this mission.
