The Charleston Youth Company’s upcoming Feb. 1 and 2 production will be presented at the Sottile Theater. The company is a non-profit organization committed to offering children in grades 3 through 12 in the Tri-county area opportunities to be a part of the performing arts. The winter production is in February and the spring production is April 19 and 20.
The winter production is a comedy set in 1938 and the children have had a lot of fun learning about the era and creating their 1930s costumes. All of the productions are Broadway-styled with dancing, singing and acting. The members also create the sets and props for each show.
Several of the company’s members attend Wando High School and many others live in the Mount Pleasant area. They have been working on this production since September and are trying to spread the word in their community. I have lots of photos of the cast For more information visit the company’s website at wwww.charlestonyouthcompany.com.
