Crime in the County
The following incidents were obtained from Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office reports:
• Several items were stolen from an unlocked SUV parked on East Church Street in Bonneau during a recent theft. The victim reported missing items including 10 compact discs and about $5 in loose change.
Another victim parked in the same area said unknown subjects went through his SUV but he was unable to determine if anything was missing.
• A West Columbia man was the victim of a recent vehicle break-in off Greentown Road in St. Stephen. The victim said he was working at a Greentown Road location and left a work truck there. The next day one of the workers discovered the small passenger window had been shattered and there was glass on the ground. They discovered the copper wires were cut and missing from the starter to the batteries. Both batteries were missing, including the cover and a large monkey bar.
There were also four employee jackets missing from inside the vehicle along with a revolving light magnet that goes on top of the vehicle when it is transferring mobile homes. About $530 in items was stolen from the truck.
• A Moncks Corner man reported missing items on a recent morning after he let a suspect spend the night at his residence. The victim’s wallet containing $1,000 cash was missing, along with a bottle containing 150 painkillers.
A deputy stopped the suspect’s vehicle later that day but did not locate any of the stolen items.
• A Cross woman recently reported someone stole more than $1,000 worth of her firearms. Missing are a Herstal 57 semiautomatic handgun and a Ruger NM Blackhawk 41 magnum revolver.
