The Cross Trojans take the field last week at Benedict College.

Cross football coach Shaun Wright understands history, and he tells his team to be mindful and respectful of the rich history and tradition that is Cross Trojans football.
The 2012 Trojans made a little history of its own this fall, becoming the first team from Cross to play for and win a state championship.
This team will be the answer to many a question offered in quiet conversation over lunch, a haircut or family dinners around the holidays. First and foremost being, “Do you remember when?”
The future of Cross Trojan football now rests in the hands of these 30 young men, and their achievement will be immortalized in banners hung from the gymnasium rafters and on display high above the grandstand at Arthur Ravenel Stadium.
Young football players will emulate these guys. They will copy their style of running and wear their numbers on team football jerseys, wanting to be the next number 3, or 5, 9 or 50. They will be the subject of pregame speeches about resilience, overcoming adversity and a never-say-die attitude.
Attitude is everything, coaches will say, and these Cross Trojans had it. And this celebration of their first ever state championship is for everyone who calls Cross home.
