Rules of engagement for fighting the battle of the bulge

Thanksgiving is over. The only real evidence that it was here after we have put away our purchases from Black Friday is the large projection of the stomach in front of us.†††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† †
A friend of mine stopped by the house while I was working on this article and he was noticeably larger. He conceded that he had over indulged during the holidays as so many of us did. The next few weeks would be time to repair the damage done.
I wish him well. The battle of the bulge is not an easy war to win during the prime eating days of the year, during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
So, how do you control yourself during these days ahead? Most of us cannot exercise the level of self control necessary to keep off the extra pounds.† Here are a few suggestions for you to ward off temptations and prevent the battle of the bulge from becoming the battle of the blues after the holidays.
Do things in moderation. You donít have to eat until you feel like you are going to bust open wide or throw up. Eat just enough so you feel full.
Think of the damage you do to your heart and other organs when you overeat.
Avoid the things you like best that hurt you most. If you like candy but you havenít got candy you cannot eat candy. If you like sodas but you have none in your house or near you, you cannot drink sodas. In other words avoid temptation.
And when you stumble upon it accidentally, flee or ignore it.
Fill your mind with other things apart from food. The more you think about it is the more you want it. Find other things to occupy your thoughts.
Sometimes it doesnít take a rather elaborate system in order to lose a few pounds or keep off the pounds. All you need to do is take some simple common sense steps and stick with them.
