Chief responds to dumpster fires

  • Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Dear Editor:
The Moncks Corner Fire Department has recently responded to a series of dumpster fires. Over the past two weeks the fire department has responded to seven dumpster fires. It appears all of these fires were intentionally set. It is important for businesses utilizing dumpsters to make sure that their dumpsters are not placed within five feet of combustible walls, openings or combustible roof eave lines. Keeping these large containers in the open and away from combustible construction is the obvious way to keep the fire hazard low.
