Churches continue programs for those in need
Three years ago Hickory Grove and Macedonia Christian Church started preparing meals for 60-plus people two Fridays of each month.
On the first Friday of each month the Macedonia Christian Church fixes the meals and Hood's Chapel UM Church makes the dessert. The Christian Church delivers the meals.
On the third Friday of each month Hickory Grove PH Church cooks and delivers the meals and Providence Baptist makes the dessert.
Some meals are delivered as far away as Honey Hill. Many who attend Macedonia Christian Church do not live in Macedonia.
Also, several years ago Bierra UM Church started a food bank. Less than a year ago Macedonia Christian Church started the Manna Food Bank and have helped many people in need.
Most all churches have a small food closet to assist those who are in need. Donations of food are welcomed to help with the food bank. In these hard economic times more people are in need of help.
The next Crime Watch Meeting and MCAP meeting is Tuesday, July 24. Crime Watch is at 6:30 p.m. and the Macedonia Community Action Project meeting follows at 7.
More people are needed to support these meetings. Cars at two more churches in the Moncks Corner area were recently broken into during church service, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office says everyone needs to lock their car.
People of Macedonia, come to the meetings and help support the community in which you live.
Happy Birthday from Hickory Grove PH Church to Willie Cox, Marlene Litchfield, Farris Litchfield, Brandon Thames, Julie Shaw, Gracen Moraux, Stacey Simmons, Megan Black and Cassie Haines.
Hickory Grove PH Church sends special anniversary wishes to Chow and Wilma Morris.
If anyone would like for me to write in memory of someone let me know.
Today, I want to remember my two grandsons who lost their lives eight years ago: Allen and Justin Fowler (June 23, 2004). On June 25 Allen would have been 17 years old. We love and miss you Allen and Justin.
