Man charged in St. Stephen kidnapping, burglary

No bond has been set for Telly Darnell McClam, a suspect in custody on a number of charges including kidnapping and burglary.

At about 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 28 members of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office responded to Peppermill Way in St. Stephen after a woman called to say her daughter and granddaughter may have been kidnapped.

It was later determined that the victims were kidnapped from Peppermill Way.

An Amber Alert was issued. On Oct. 29 McClam was arrested by the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office.

He is currently housed at Hill-Finklea Detention Center in Moncks Corner. He has been charged with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, criminal sexual conduct first degree, burglary first degree, felon in possession of firearm and violation of community supervision.
