It’s October and that can mean only one thing - besides fall.

It’s Homecoming.

While a little rain dampened the early October evening Friday, it did not rain on the Berkeley High School homecoming parade.

Dana Olheiser was crowned 2013 Homecoming Queen at halftime of the Berkeley-Stall football game.

“I’m so excited I’m about to pass out,” Olheiser said through tears and smiles after being crowned queen.

Berkeley High School was covered in spirit throughout the week, according to the BHS Student Government Association, with designated spirit days, hallway decorations, a pep rally, and the homecoming parade on Friday afternoon.

Spirit Days kicked off on Monday with “Be Your Teacher” Day, followed by Tropical Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, and Throwback Thursday with each class claiming a decade in the spirit of this year’s theme.

Friday capped the week with Blue and Gold Day and the student pep rally hosted by student government.

Under cloudy skies the parade followed Main Street out of Moncks Corner at Carolina Street to the school.

“Looks like rain but Mother Nature held off for us to get this in,” said BHS Principal Steven Steele. “The rain hurt us a little bit during the Fall Festival, but it held off for the game. It was a great night and a great homecoming.”
