They say anything worth doing is worth doing twice.
The Berkeley Stags baseball and softball teams made school history on Wednesday night, as both squads won the Region 8AAA Championship.
At 7:58 p.m. the baseball team wrapped up their first region baseball title with a 10-0 shutout of Orangeburg Wilkinson at Jim Bradley Field, and shortly afterward, on the other side of the pond at the Lady Stags’ softball field at 8:04 p.m., the softball team made it a twin killing with a 15-0 blanking of the Lady Bruins.
Both teams will face the fourth seeded teams out of Region 5AAA on Friday night. Opponents were not confirmed at press time. Second round games are scheduled for Monday, April 29.
Timberland’s baseball and softball teams enter the playoffs as the third and second seeds respectively out of Region 7AA. The baseball team will hit the road on Thursday to face Aynor and the softball team will host the third-seeded team out of Region 8AA.
