Make that three Family Circle Cup titles for Ms. No. 1.

The top-ranked women's tennis player in the world, Serena Williams, won her third Family Circle Cup and her second consecutive Sunday on Billie Jean King Court against Jelena Jankovic.

Williams clinched in three sets, 3-6, 6-0, 6-2. It was her 49th career singles title.

Her road to the championship included a 6-1, 6-2 rout of older sister Venus in the semifinals after playing twice on Friday to make up for postponed matches on Thursday due to rain. The championship win earned her a check for $125,000. Besides Sunday and 2012, she also won the Family Circle Cup crown in 2008. Jankovic won the event in 2007.

After Serena's victory over Venus, she spoke fondly of Charleston and the Billie Jean King Court. “I love playing this court. I love this tournament, and I think it's a good clay court,” she said. “Sometimes you play on certain clay courts and they're not good, and they're funny and you can't really slide or it's just weird. This one I think is a really good one, particularly this year, the past two years I've played it's been really, really good.”

In doubles, the unseeded duo of Lucie Safarova and Kristina Mladenovic combined for the win against No. 1 seeded Andrea Hlavackova and Liezel Huber. The doubles championship match was played before singles.
