Children’s Discovery Center, an established childcare provider in Ohio, is opening its first South Carolina location this summer. Groundbreaking for the new center, located in Mount Pleasant, took place on Feb. 21.

The center will offer the Reggio Emilia educational program to children, a program recognized as one of the world’s top educational philosophies. Newsweek has stated it is the “best early childhood program in the world.”

“We are thrilled to become a part of the Mount Pleasant community,” said Lois Rosenberry, the company’s CEO, during the groundbreaking ceremony.

“We have been caring for children for more than 30 years and are anxious to open our doors so that Lowcountry families can see why our approach to childcare is so unique.”

The Mount Pleasant location will be the company’s first facility built outside of the Ohio market. Children’s Discovery Center has eight locations in the greater Toledo area and has been recognized by the state of Ohio for its excellence in service and is considered one of the top 50 childcare companies in America.

The center plans to accept registrations starting in April and doors will open in August.

Parents or guardians will be able to register children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years old.
