St. John’s Christian Academy held its first “Piggly Wiggly Day” on Jan. 8.
The event encouraged people from St. John’s to buy or sell $400 of Pig cards or donate $40 to the school to help raise money for a new welcome center.
Students wore their favorite Piggly Wiggly shirt or anything pink. They made Piggly Wiggly posters, and a special chapel service was dedicated to the store.
Students sang a pig song and were given pig pencils and stickers. SJCA senior William Brown visited upper school and lower school classrooms to do a jig for the pig.
By their participation, students earned a half-day off from school on Jan. 18.
“Piggly Wiggly Day was a huge success and it was also a festive day for the students,” SJCA Marketing Coordinator Michelle Driggers said. “St. John’s hopes to fulfill their goal in making a new welcome center. Piggly Wiggly day was a great way to help them achieve it.”
