BHS Future Business Leaders excel in competition
Thirteen students competed and placed in their events as Berkeley High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended their district conference on Feb. 4 at Stall High School in Charleston. All of the students are eligible to compete at the state leadership conference March 23 – 24 at the North Charleston Convention Center. Nine first-place winners included Candice Bryant (Business Communications); Elissa Latham (Business Law); Tonya Bradham, Brittany Cremeans and Brea Green (Business Presentation); Ebonie Allen (Business Procedures); Schelmyra Eaddy and Kendrick Latham (Entrepreneurship); and Stephen Latham (Introduction to Parliamentary Procedures). Tabitha Latham placed second in Public Speaking I; Shannon Armstrong placed third in Personal Finance; Briana Smith placed fourth in Personal Finance; and Demonte Reid placed fifth place in Public Speaking II.  Advisers are Sonya Addison-Stewart and Michelle B. Taylor. We congratulate these students and their advisors on their placements and achievements, and wish them continued success as they move to the next level of competition.
Pancake Breakfast
The youth of St. Philip Benizi Community are holding a pancake breakfast at Applebee’s on March 24, from 8 - 9:30 a.m. to raise funds for their Catholic HEART Work Camp Mission Trip.  Tickets are $5, eat in or take out.
Sympathy
Expressions of sympathy are being sent to the Paul Gourdine and Roberson families of St. Stephen on the passing of Rosalind Roberson Gourdine – wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, cousin and friend – on March 3.
