SC police officer charged with hitting girlfriend

COWPENS, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina police officer has been arrested and accused of hitting his girlfriend with a can of beer.

The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported that 42-year-old Cowpens police officer Carl Preston Clark was arrested early Saturday and charged with criminal domestic violence.
An arrest warrant states Clark struck his 39-year-old girlfriend in the chest with a can of beer. She walked to the police department and said struck her and called her names.
It was unclear if Clark had an attorney.
