COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina legislators resume discussions on whether Gov. Mark Sanford should be impeached as they consider issues involving his travel and campaign reimbursement practices.
Tuesday's hearing will be the second of at least four for the seven members of the House Judiciary Committee in the wake of Sanford's tearful confession of an affair in June.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Harrison said last week that legislators will use the meeting to look at state Ethics Commission charges involving the Republican governor's use of state airplanes for personal and political purposes.
The commission last week released 37 charges against the governor that also include high-priced travel and personal reimbursements from his campaign account.
