COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina legislators will consider a bill that bans texting while driving and chatting in the car with a hand-held phone.
The bill is up for debate on Wednesday in a House Education subcommittee.
It would ban drivers from sending text messages or using a hand-held cell phone.
The bill says handsfree devices are OK.
Anyone convicted of the misdemeanor crime could be fined up to $100.
