James W. Pipkin of Jamestown, husband of the late Corine Parker Pipkin, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010. He was 90.
Mr. Pipkin was born Dec. 26, 1919, in Jamestown, the son of Edward Pringle Pipkin and Margaret Shaw Pipkin.
A member of St. James United Methodist Church, Mr. Pipkin was a retired farmer, having been a former Berkeley County Farmer of the Year, and a former member of Jamestown Town Council.
Surviving are a daughter. Jimmie Kaye Murray and her husband, Mark, of Jamestown; a son, Retired Colonel Roy P. Pipkin and his wife, Christine, of Jamestown; five grandchildren, Gregg Murray, Tonya Wagner, Alexa M. Rogers, Major Brian J. Pipkin and Ashley R. Pipkin; four great-grandchildren, Hailey Kaye Tolson, Blake G. Rogers, Sofie A. Rogers and Katie C. Rogers; and one nephew, Glenn H. Pipkin.
Services were held in Jamestown at St. James United Methodist Church on Jan. 31. Interment was at the church cemetery directed by Russell Funeral Chapel, Moncks Corner.
