Isaac Buist Davis of Pinopolis, husband of Joyce Mikkelson Davis, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2009. He was 79.
Mr. Davis was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Columbia, a son of Isaac Irving Davis and Hazel Bishop Davis.
Mr. Davis was a 1947 graduate of Macedonia High School. He had been a bridge builder foreman with Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and was retired as a general foreman at Charleston Naval Shipyard in Shop 7. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Michael B. Davis and his wife, Sylleste, of Moncks Corner; three daughters, Laura D. Mims and her husband, Mike, of Alvin, Loraine D. Dennis and her husband, Edward J. Dennis IV of Pinopolis, and Janet D. York and her husband, Kevin, of Beaverton, Oregon; a brother, Rhett Bannister Davis of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Betty Wittenberg of Lambertville, MI; seven grandchildren, Kirkland Buist Stiling, Nancy Carson Dennis, Andrew Michael Davis, Scott Mikkelson Davis, Lee Harrison Davis, Paige Elise York and John Hayden Davis.
Funeral services were held at St. John's Baptist Church in Pinopolis on Nov. 25, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel, Moncks Corner. Interment was at the church cemetery.
