First Coast Homes and Habitat for Humanity gathered together one last time on Fennick Street for the home dedication ceremony for Benjamin and Barbara Batton July 30 in Moncks Corner.
Family, friends and volunteers gathered together on the Battons’ front lawn and shared thanks and appreciation for everyone involved.
With their beautiful blue home behind them, the Battons’ tearfully thanked First Coast Homes for their hard work.
Tom and Bonnie Chamberlin represent Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County.
“I think this is one of the most beautiful home we have built here in Berkeley County,” Chamberlin said.
Barbara, in a wheelchair from a recent hospital stay said, “ My mother would have loved everyone here for doing this for us.”
Jan Morgan is the board president of Habitat for Humanity.
“We were happy to build this house for Barbara and Ben,” Morgan said. “They have partnered with us a long time through many sicknesses, never given up hope and that’s what this house represents … hope for all of us.”
Morgan became emotional during the ceremony showing the extent of happiness she feels for the Battons.
The Battons represent what Habitat for Humanity is all about, reaching out and helping others, Morgan said.
After the ceremony, everyone entered the home for a tour.
