Life’s a beach for Cross families
The Shulers, Connie and O’Dell, along with their children and their families recently spent 10 days camping at Myrtle Beach.
Joining them were Rae Beth and Bobby Fultz, Lauren Austin, and Art, Dana, Jay and Brant Shuler for fun in the surf and sun.
With two in all-star ball games, this group did some traveling back and forth!
Jay Shuler played summer baseball with the Harleyville team. Jay and his teammates played in the all-star finals, winning three in Aiken and losing the fourth for an excellent record.
Brant Shuler played with a younger group of teammates on the Providence Hurricanes. The Hurricanes traveled to Hartsville where they won the first all-star game, and returned for the second Hartsville game. Congratulations, Jay and Brant!
Joyce and Will Hutto also enjoyed time away in July at the beach.
Joining them were Marty, Winnie, and T.J. Steese of Cross. T.J. enjoyed camping where he met friends his age from many places who also enjoyed biking, swimming, and playing on the beach.
Charlie and Sally C. Barrett of Spartanburg enjoyed the charm of Edisto Island for their first vacation there. Joining them were their daughter Sandy, husband, and children from Lexington, and their son Christopher and wife Elise and their two children from Charleston. While at the beach Sally was able to visit with some of her first cousins for an afternoon at another beach.
G.H. and M.A. Cross traveled from Valdosta, Ga., to join their lowcountry siblings Wilbur Cross, Marvis Solley, Nellie Williams, Lois Sellers and other family members for a week at the beach. This has become a traditional event for the Hilliard Cross family. What a great way to relax and yet keep in touch with family.
Celeste and Ellison Singletary had an extended vacation at the beach in their RV. While at Myrtle Beach they enjoyed dining out, great musical shows, shopping, and lots of time in the surf.
If you haven’t been camping lately, you’d be surprised to notice how many other states have discovered the beaches of Carolina, as well as the Canadians coming in summer and winter.
Happy Birthday
Pat and Gene Austin enjoyed an evening out to celebrate Pat’s birthday last week.
Get Well
Rae Beth Fultz had surgery last week and is recuperating at home. Wanda Flint has also been hospitalized and is now at home recuperating with her daughter Paula’s assistance.
Sympathy
Everyone was distressed to hear of the death of John Ham. He will be missed everywhere, especially at the WLA Action Center here in Cross where John and Chip have worked diligently for years.
